Abstract

Workplace demands continue to evolve, highlighting the role of higher education institutions in preparing graduating students for successful workforce transition. This quantitative-descriptive study examined the effectiveness of the university’s career pathing activities in developing job readiness and identified suggestions for improvement. A total of 656 graduating students from the December 2023 and June 2024 commencement exercises voluntarily participated using a researcher-made survey. Findings revealed that pre-employment activities, job orientation, job fairs, career counseling, general mental ability testing, and on-the-job training effectively developed skills essential for workplace entry and positive career development. Thematic analysis of students’ suggestions further indicated the need to strengthen opportunities for growth and skills enhancement. Overall, career pathing activities significantly support students’ transition from the school environment to the workforce.
