The Effect of Career Competence and Career Adaptability on Career Engagement Among Cadets in Aviation Vocational Higher Education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of career competence and career adaptability on career engagement among cadets in aviation vocational higher education. The study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The results revealed that career competence had a positive and significant effect on career engagement (beta = 0.340; t = 6.636; p < 0.001). Career adaptability also had a positive and significant effect on career engagement (beta = 0.376; t = 7.730; p < 0.001). The R-square value of 0.372 indicates that career competence and career adaptability explained 37.2% of the variance in career engagement. These findings confirm that cadets' career engagement is shaped by their ability to understand and manage career development and their readiness to deal with career-related change and uncertainty. This study provides practical implications for aviation vocational higher education institutions to strengthen career services, adaptability development, industry networking, and structured self-development activities for cadets.
